Tips & Substitutions

  • This is a spin on one of my most popular recipes of all time, my Ranch Snack Mix! Everyone loves pickles, so I thought it would be fun to add in some extra ingredients to give it a pickle twist. I love this recipe because its incredibly easy, it doesn't need to be refrigerated and it is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
  • Here are the key ingredients needed for this recipe:
    • Mini saltines or oyster crackers - any type of a plain, salty, bite-sized cracker
    • Cheez-It's or Goldfish - any type of bite-sized cheddar cracker
    • Pretzels - the smaller the better for this recipe
    • Ranch seasoning powder - you will need a total of 3, 1oz packets for this recipe. I like to use 2 packets of classic Ranch seasoning and 1 packet of spicy Ranch seasoning
    • Neutral oil - canola oil, grapeseed oil or vegetable oil works great
    • Pickle juice
    • Dried dill
    • Pickle seasoning - Trader Joe's Seasoning in a Pickle works great, but I also left a pickle seasoning blend in the ingredients for those who don't have access!
  • This recipe keeps well in a sealed container for 1.5 weeks

Ingredients

  • 10-12oz mini saltines or oyster crackers
  • 12oz cheddar crackers
  • 12oz pretzels – smaller sized pretzels work best for this
  • 3, 1oz packets of ranch seasoning
  • 2/3 cup neutral oil (canola oil, grapeseed oil, vegetable oil, etc)
  • 4 tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 tbsp dried dill
  • 2 tbsp Trader Joe’s Seasoning in a Pickle OR the homemade pickle seasoning below

Homemade Pickle Seasoning

  • 1.5 tbsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried dill

Directions

1. Combine mini saltines, cheddar crackers and pretzels together and mix well. Evenly distribute the mix into 2 gallon sized zip lock bags (I find this to be the easiest way to mix! You could also do this in bowls)
2. Evenly distribute the oil, pickle juice, pickle seasoning and ranch seasoning across the two bags, close the bags and mix until evenly combined
3. Line a large baking sheet with foil and add 1 bag of mix onto the sheet, spreading out evenly. Top with half of a ranch seasoning packet and about 1/2 tbsp dried dill
4. Bake at 250 for 15 mins, mixing at the halfway mark
5. Repeat with the second half of the batch & ENJOY!
